It is with deep pain and sorrow that the Moïse family of Fermathe, Haiti announces the passing of Emmanuel "Manno" Moïse, son of the late Dorcius Moïse and the late Zoe Lumena St. Surin, on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in Binghamton, New York. He was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on Sunday December 24, 1950.
Better known as Brother Manno, he worked in Haiti for several years in the fields of healthcare, construction, public transportation, and entrepreneurship. He also worked in similar fields in New York where he spent his last 17 years of life.
He grew up and lived in Fermathe, where he was respectively a very active and dedicated member of Fermathe Baptist Church and Fermathe Seventh-day Adventist Church. For several years in Spring Valley, New York, he was a member of prayer groups, a Sabbath School teacher, most notably a Head Deacon, and a board member of Sinaï Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Besides being involved in the Lord's work, he enjoyed working, serving the community, and helping others. He loved God. He loved his numerous family members.
Brother Manno is survived by his wife, Rose Adeline Jean-Pierre Moise; his children and their spouse: Ricardo and Alphonsine Christolin, Garry Moïse and Claudia Hawkins-Moise, Tamara Moise-Décembre and Dumernois Décembre, Caleb and Johanna Moïse; Naomie Moïse-Mémé and Voltaire Mémé; and Débora Moïse-Lusma and Vilbert Lusma. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, (Mélodye, Kenan, Phillip, Dumerson, Nora, Garrett, Emilie, Vivienne, Chloé, Sahid, Hannah, Elena, Nvillia).
He was the oldest brother of nine living siblings and their spouse: Dorcilia and Reynold C. Saintimé, Sr., Daniel and Gertha Moïse, Gislaine Moïse, Samuel and Fortuna Moïse, Celitane and Wisler François, Sonia and Joubert St. Juste, Yvonne and Lionel Muscadin, and Michaelle and Bernard Normil; Nadia and Ginel Vilsaint.
He is further survived by more than 30 nieces and nephews, plus their spouse: Reynold and Melinda Saintimé, Jr., Elena and Bétuel Jean-François, Widna and Job Narcisse, Esperanta Saintimé, Marlène Jules, Sandra Saintimé, Eliezer and Kethia Moise, Cassandre and David Désir, Abdias and Martine Moise, Stephanie Moïse, Daens and Samantha Moïse, James Manassé and Jemima Moïse, Jounia Sara Saint-Juste, Rose Belita and Jean-Bernard Désir, Alden and Samantha Saint-Juste, Anne Christelle Saint-Juste, Yvenel Muscadin, Werley Muscadin, Ketura Muscadin, Anne Rébecca Normil, Michelle-Agathe Normil, Nephtalie Muscadin, Anaïka Voltaire, Evenson Voltaire, Anne Bervely Vilsaint, Prince Vilsaint, Genelson Vilsaint, Kenwood Vilsaint. His survivors also include 26 great grand nephews and grand nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Dorcius and Lumena Moïse, his mother in law, Aristozia Piervil, his sister Lumène Moïse, his brother Israel Moïse, his nephews Didcar Moïse and Wilder François.
He was also a cousin and a friend to many others from the communities of Kenscoff, Fermathe, Duplan, Corbier, Fort-Jacques, Lamothe, Thomassin, Petion-Ville, Port-au-Prince, Torbeck, and Les Cayes.
Funeral service will take place on Sunday, August 28th at Sinaï French Seventh-day Adventist Church, with viewing at 7:00 a.m. and funeral ceremony at 9:00 a.m.; all eastern time. The Church is located on 7 Johnson Street, Spring Valley, New York.
On Monday, August 29th, at 11:00 a.m., family members will gather at Vestal Hills Memorial Park in Vestal, NY for his burial.
